Our Almost Finished Kitchen Makeover | Before & After

Monday, December 2, 2013

For those of you that have been following along with our Kitchen Makeover Series, I'm back today to finally share the end (well almost end) result.  For those of you just joining us, be sure to check out the story from the beginning here.  Like I've said before, this kitchen makeover has been 3 years in the making and still has a ways to go ~ a backsplash is the most prominent item needed.  So while this journey isn't completed, Brian and I have enjoyed the ride!  Here's what our kitchen looked like in week 1:
And here's what it looks like today:
We knew we wanted to refinish the cabinets, and replace most everything else...
And that's exactly what we did...
We installed pendant lights over the sink...
Moved the placement of the dishwasher and installed a farmhouse style sink...

Replaced the light above the fridge...

And installed hardwood floors...

We purchased appliances...

And added metro shelving for additional storage...
And there you have it...our almost finished kitchen!
I'm working on an all-in-one post that will include a buying guide for everything used in our kitchen makeover.  It will give a list of sources along with an approximate cost of the total renovation.  But in the meantime if you have a question, please feel free to ask in the comments below!

Let It Snow!
The letterpress garland shown above is from Red Bird Ink ~ I'm obsessed!!

  1. This is amazing! I love the open shelving you added. Did you make the banner of cards above the window? I saw a similar set on your Thanksgiving table and I love them!

    1. Hi, Elise ~ aren't those banners ADORABLE!! They're actually individual letter pressed coasters from Red Bird Ink ~ http://redbirdink.com/ ~ Julia is so sweet and so talented ~ be sure to check out her site and be sure to check out Iron & Twine this week, as we have a fun giveaway coming up with one of these fun banners!

  2. I love the utilitarian shelves. I had discussed putting some in our kitchen (a 1000 sq ft bungalow) but then had never really seen them in a house that I aesthetically loved…….THANK YOU!!! You've now made the chicken in me brave! Thanks for such form AND function.

  4. Where did you purchase the pendants above the sink? I am looking for new lighting above my sink (currently have the dreaded "boob" light) and I think those might work perfectly! :)

    1. Hi, Kim ~ those pendants happened to be the deal of the century ~ my mom actually bought them like 5-6 years ago at a Pottery Barn outlet for $15 bucks a piece! Crazy right?! She originally bought them for her kitchen, but they weren't quite right so when we bought the house she pulled them out of her attic for us to use. Pottery Barn Still offers them, Rustic Glass Pendants here: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/rustic-glass-pendant/?pkey=e%7Cpendant%2Blight%7C27%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C15&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-NoMerchRules-_- Hope this helps!

  8. White kitchens are the best! Great job for your choice of kitchen accessories, Michelle! A month has passed already, and I wonder if you're done with the additions to complete the renovation. Any update about this? Thanks! :)
