We're beyond thrilled to share that...
two?
yup! two babies!!
After our initial shock and awe, we're pretty over-the-moon excited! Still early in the process, at 9 weeks, but gosh darn we just had to share ~ mainly because yours truly is so awful at keeping secrets! And I must say, seeing their heartbeats at 6 weeks really changes ones outlook on life. Our journey started two years ago, and after wondering what was up we enlisted the help of some pretty amazing fertility specialists. The funny thing about pregnancy is when you want it, you want it, and sometimes it just doesn't happen that easy. So for any couples out there that had a rough go at it, or who still are ~ I have a whole new love and understanding for what you're going through.
Plainly put...Infertility Sucks!
And I have to admit that while at times our road was bumpy, our journey turned out to be a pretty easy one. I was diagnosed with PCOS last summer and after some other stuff we got super lucky with our first round of IUI in February.
Plainly put...We're pregnant with Twins!
As far as how it's currently going? Life is good and growing babies is hard work :)
I have to admit, pregnancy does some pretty funny things to you and your body. There's this form of exhaustion that I've never felt before. Not a let me take an afternoon nap exhaustion, but a I'll totally fall asleep while talking to you exhaustion. Brian and I keep joking that it's the twins way of saying Sleep now, because next year you won't. Pair that with morning sickness, a weird bout of sleep insomnia, and the never ending feeling that my brain is working at a third of capacity and I'd say it's a standard pregnancy so far. All of that explains my absence from the blog most of March. So, I greatly appreciate your patience with me as I get through the first trimester.
As for any nursery or baby plans? We're currently taking it day by day, so no BIG plans yet. We do plan to stay in this house, after all we don't feel like our adventure here is over. We're more of the finish what you started type and there are still so many DIYs and projects to be done! But boy oh boy (or should I say girl oh girl? or boy oh girl?) ~ we can't wait to see what's in store!
Ok, now it's your turn!
Any parenting or baby must haves?!
Bring it on! We'd love to hear your thoughts and comments below!
Congratulations! My advice ..... Enjoy each moment ❤

ReplyDeletelove you so much Grams!
DeleteCongratulations! Awesome news! My sister had twins after a couple rounds of IVF. She looks back and says the first six years are an absolute blur. She hardly remembers anything. Parenting is that way: relentless and exhausting. And joyful and hilarious and I wouldn't trade it for anything, having had three kids of my own. Thanks for sharing: I wouldn't have been able to keep that great news a secret either.
ReplyDeleteOh Michelle! I'm so, so happy for you both! Wow what an adventure you have in store…an amazing, fabulous, life changing adventure! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHeather
Congratulations to you and your sweet hubby!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!!! Congratulations! Enjoy each and every minute!
ReplyDeleteCongratulation to you guys! How exciting! I was wondering why you were so quiet last month. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! My husband and I tried for approximately 1 year and I found out on my 36th birthday we were having twins!! My best advice - do not find out the sex of the babies. I am a huge planner but my husband and I decided we didn't want to know until we met them. It was the best excitement I ever experienced when they were born - 2 girls 4 years ago!! Give yourself plenty of rest and take the help when it is there - because when Mommy is exhausted there isn't anyone benefiting from that!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Michelle, such WONDERFUL news!! Congratulations!! You look so, so happy (both of you!) and are absolutely radiant. I'm thrilled for you guys. =) XO Bethany
ReplyDeleteOMG Michelle this is beyond exciting! Good luck and all the very best to you and Brian :)

OH, and... Brian's cute. Like really.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! It took me 7 years before I got pregnant and now he's 21 and graduating college...enjoy every minute the good and the bad moments they past by too quickly. Now I get to enjoy others who are becoming first time moms ...attending a baby shower for twin boys on Saturday and I'm so excited for the parents. You'll be great parents too!
ReplyDeleteSuch exciting news!! I had the deep, deep exhaustion with my first pregnancy (faded after 1st trimester) and I don't think I slept more than a few hours every night of my second one. Worst insomnia. I actually slept way better after the baby was born! Can;t wait to follow along as you go through this. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Michelle, that is such amazing news! And you guys are adorable! I am so happy for your and have been wondering what you've been up to and was planning on emailing you :) Glad to know such happy things are happening! My son is 5 right now and he was adopted so I don't know too much about the newborn stuff but I do know it is the hardest most awesome job in the world being a mommy and try to enjoy it every day. Take lots of pictures. Write down milestones or funny things they do or say in a journal. I wish I did more of that !
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! So happy for you! We have been trying for almost two years now, so I know the feeling... Hope all is well with you and that you have a nice week :) Greetings from Norway :)
ReplyDeleteBest DIY project you could ever embark on! Nothing like parenthood.
ReplyDeletecongrats to both (or all four) of you........ How very, very wonderful
ReplyDeleteNo, no baby news here - it's all in the past time - but your post was so cheerful, happy, smiley, over-the-moon-fantastic that I wished to wish you a (mostly) incident-less journey!
Kisses, Kiki
Congrats guys. Sleep now and enjoy being pampered.
ReplyDeleteWhat news!!!

Take care of yourself and will be happy and
excited to hear all the grreat up-dates coming.
You need blogland to come up with names for

husbands picks. :)
Wonderful news! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! My husband and I had a two and a half year old and wanted to give her a sibling. We got the shock of our lives when we discovered (at 21 weeks) that I was carrying twins. The feeling of "I can't believe there are two of them" still hasn't gone away & mine will be three in May. Yes, it is difficult - even having just the first daughter was exhausting - but you can get through it. Some days I had to take things one minute at a time instead of one day at a time, but it does get easier over time. I have three beautiful girls & wouldn't change a thing. Not that you asked but I thought I'd share their names: Madeline (Madi) Claire & Kendall. P.S. Love your vintage styled home.
ReplyDeleteOMG! You two are going to have such beautiful children ... Those eyes and those smiles! Enjoy each moment.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Congratulations girl!! Twins? I have two kids but at two separate times so I'm not sure I'm going to be much help. Although my girlfriend had twins. She did an amazing job and just made she got a nanny for the few couple of months. I think support would be the number 1 to get. So exciting! Big hugs to you,
ReplyDeleteJamie
Congratulations! You guys hopefully have family and friends around to help out. I think support will be important. I didn't have twins so I don't know what help I can be but I liked the Diaper Genie - if you are not using cloth, get one of these fast! Lots of pacifiers if you are going to use them. They always seem to get lost and my kiddo's were VERY particular about the kind they liked. Overall I would say take it easy, prop up your feet and relax.... you'll do great and those little people don't break! (though they do have a lot, A LOT of stuff for their size!) Do what you feel is right. It will be amazing. Take lots of pictures and just enjoy them, the time flies by. Remember to always take time for yourselves. Keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteOh, what happy news! I'm just thrilled for you! Babies are the sweetest things in the world. I just told my husband today that I wish for one day to have our son be a three year old again. You are going to have amazing adventures! Congratulations - and yes, take lots and lots of naps!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I was like you - couldn't keep the secret! So excited to share this new journey with you!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness congratulations! This is so exciting for you and your husband. You were so sweet at Haven so I know you will be a great mom. Yay this will be fun to see your progress.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you and your husband. what a super exciting time in your life. After many years of trying at the age of "young" age of 40 I got pregnant ( IVF) and then two years later pregnant again ( IVF) with twins - boy and a girl. I am having the time of my life and couldn't imagine my life without them.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you, Michelle! What an amazing blessing!
