Happy Monday!
Over the weekend Brian & I enjoyed some of the last sunny & hot days of summer. With fall fast approaching, we started thinking about our fall to do list. I'm slowly bringing out the fall decor and re-working the fireplace mantel ~ the parrot's got to go! And our huge project we're so excited to finally be wrapping up is our kitchen! This thing has been
3 years in the making & I can't wait to share all the details with you.
I mean how awesome is this before photo?!
Yup that's a lawn mower!
Over the weekend we sanded counter tops and finished the floors. This old house is always a work in progress, but we wouldn't have it any other way! I promise to share all the photos & how to's very soon. In the meantime, what's on your fall to do list?
After reading you blog about changing décor for fall you have me in the mood, especially since it is rainy and cool and the aspen are turning color. Now I cannot wait to see the great ideas you come up with for the mantel, PLUS photos of the finished kitchen. Grams
ReplyDeleteHi, Grams! Wish I was there to see the aspen change color!! Thanks for reading along ~ means the world to me! xoxo
DeleteLove, love the floor. Also think it was great that this is where you kept the law mower!
ReplyDeleteYour son in law did a GREAT job on those floors! Isn't that the funniest thing ever! I forgot about that ~ after spending (at the time what was tons of mullah) on that lawn mower, we couldn't possibly leave it outside ~ ha :)
DeleteFound your blog via The Handmade Home! I love your style! You have a beautiful home and great ideas!

Hello Amber! Thanks so much for your kind words!
DeleteWe have a little larger bungalow built in 1949 and after 17 years, it is STILL a work in progress! During those 17 years we raised our 2 children and put both through college, then one through design school and the other one through law school. Good thing they got a lot of scholarship help! However the progress has waxed and waned as time and funds available have waxed and waned, but it has all been good. We've had a lot of time to live with some changes we've made only to decide we didn't like them so much after all.
ReplyDeleteYour house is darling and I LOVE what you have done! I'm really looking forward to each new project you take on. It doesn't have to be done in a year, so don't push too hard and never feel defeated. Each little or big thing is progress. Enjoy the process as much as the result. BTW, the lawn mower is in the perfect place! I'd wait at least 6 months or so before you change its location! :)
Judy ~ I teared up a bit when I read this! I hope to one day have what you have ~ 17 years in a home raising kids & creating memories. You are so very right ~ enjoy the process as much as the result. Thanks for taking the time to share your insight! And we thought it was the perfect place for a lawn mower too :)
DeleteHi! I came over from the Handmade Home and love your house. I, too, have an old bungalow and am constantly trying to make it our home. Can't wait to check out the rest of your blog, I love it so far!
ReplyDeleteMegan ~ thanks for coming over!
DeleteHi, I hopped on over from the Handmade Home and promptly fell in love with your blog! We moved last year from a new construction home to an older, diamond-in-the-rough kind of home, and we are just finishing up the kitchen, too! I can't wait to browse through and read more! Your home- and your writing- is just lovely. Have a great night! Bethany
ReplyDeleteHi, Bethany,
DeleteOooohhh! My favorite are diamond--in-the-rough! Good for you take on that kind of project and for such a great reason! I loved reading about your call to adopt again! Prayers & thoughts are with you and your family!
Ooh, can't wait to see how it turns out. Love that there was a lawnmower in there! Ha. :)
